Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The relationship among different aspects of facial processing (facial expression, facial identity, and classification as faces) was assessed with event-related brain potentials (ERPs) elicited from a visual oddball paradigm, in which the object, different expression, and different identity were presented among the frequent face stimulus. In order to manipulate the attentional set of the subject, one of the deviants was assigned as a target in a different condition. The results in a P3 component indicated that the deviant object among face stimulus was processed obligatory. In contrast, the processings of facial expression and facial identity were affected by the task requirements, indicating that the processing can be modified by the attentional set.
