Abstract(in Japanese) | (See Japanese page) |
Abstract(in English) | In the present study, a psychological experiment was performed in order to investigate the roles of dynamic information in the recognition of facial expressions by using morphed images. This method makes it possible to control the physical parameters such as the amount of motion of facial features and the changing speed of faces. Four facial expressions (happiness/sadness/anger/surprise) and three speed conditions were used in the experiment. From the result of the intensity-rating for the expression, it was suggested that the recognition of facial expressions was influenced by changing the speed of presentation, and the influence had a different aspect for each facial expression. Especially for the "surprise" expression, the faster the presentation speed, the higher the rating of intensity, whereas the intensity for the "sadness" expression was not influenced by changing the speed. |
