Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The factors, influenced the memory of face recognition, are the semantic superiority effect (the recognition performance improve the deeper processing of human faces - e.g. character judgments, than more shallow processin tasks - e.g. physical features judgments), and the familiarity effect (the recognition performance improve in familiar face than unfamiliar face) are factors, influenced the memory of face recognition. This study investigated that whether the semantic superiority effect could be found in recognition of familiar face and unfamiliar, and whether the interaction could be found between the semantic superiority effect and the familiarity effect. It was resulted that there was a significant difference between physical features and facial impression judgments in recognition of unfamiliar faces. However the semantic superiority effect was not found in familiar face, because there were no significant difference for two judgments. By the other hand, the significant interaction between the semantic superiority effect and the familiarity effect, was suggested that the semantic superiority effects could be varied by means of familiarity.
