Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Subjective compatibility between visual display as a result of control and vibratory feedback to a hand was experimentally examined in order to improve usability with a remote control of appliances. First, we carried out a preliminary experiment to know what kinds of effects were caused on subjects by adding vibratory feedback to the control and got the results that feelings of pleasure, interest and ease-to-use were improved by adding vibration. In the second experiment we studied compatibility between a lot of visual variables of controlled objects presented on a computer screen and the duration of vibratory stimulus to the subjects' hand by means of the method of subjective evaluation. The results showed that there were not found strong display-feedback stereotypes but some of the variables such as size, direction of motion and hue had positive compatibility with the duration of vibtation.
