Abstract(in English) Signed language is a principal means of communication for deaf/hard of hearing people. Signed languages have different modaility from spoken ones and have certain characterisitics for sentence expression. In this report, we study building an assistive system for signed language learners who are hearing people. The system stores twenty three sentences (sign motion pictures) of Japanese sign language which have typical characteristics for expressions. The system stores motion pictures by a video disc and users (signed language learners) are able to watch motion pictures in an interactive manner through a computer.
