Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) It is very important for the visually disabled to be able to directly access printed documents in order to increase their information resources. But nowadays these documents contain a lot of visual information such as decorative lettering, diagrams, illustrations, photographs, colored pages, and so on. Since it is impossible to access all the information contained in such documents through the current user interfaces of OCRs, a more friendly user interface should be specially designed for the visually disabled. In this paper, we will report the results of our investigation into the ideal user interface for a visually disabled person reading a magazine.
