Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Computers have been beneficial tools for the visually impaired. However, rapidly spreading GUI becomes an obstacle for their information accessibility. The screen reader for GUI, CounterVision/SR, which we are developing can help them to operate GUI. This incorporated two methods for searching information, which are 1)logical structure search method and 2)layout structure search method. The former is suposed to be used mainly for the general purpose. Users with vision impairment can operate numeric keypad for controling CounterVision/SR and get information about interaction objects through synthesized speech and/or sound effects. We proposed a special purpose search table which dynamically refrects the operational information structure and priorities of user's needs. Effective searching and selecting objects can be acomplished with this search table.
