Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Up to the present, information communication systems have been developed mainly for people without disabilities. However in coming high aged society, more friendly human interfaces for high aged people and also people with disabilities are strongly required. In this paper, a new information communication system using tactile media is proposed. As tactile input and output devices, flexible tactile pads adaptive to a skin are considered to be useful. It was shown that any tactile pattern information can be transmitted through B channel of N-ISDN, in the case of a flexible tactile pad of 5 x 5cm^2 with dots of 1 mm pitch. And It was confirmed experimentally that a tactile pattern is recognized on other parts of skin with the expection of finger tips.
