Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The electric power is a very important energy source for assistive equipment in care houses, such as a home elevator, electrically powered bed, air-conditioner and mechanical respirator, which are operated by electricity. An electric power back-up system constructed with batteries, inverters and photovoltaic modules has been developed to provide the electricity to this equipment in case of a line interruption. In this system, normally the inverter converts the utility A.C.power to D.C.power and charges the battery at nighttime. The system provides the battery charged power and photovoltaic power to the assistive equipment and the household appliances at daytime. If there is any utility line failure, the inverter operates on the stand-alone mode and provides the power to the assistive equipment. We have performed experiments on a 4kW, 15.7kWh system at Smart House in Tokushima.
