Compact Buck-Converters of low output voltages and high efficiency

Abstract(in English) Low supply voltage LSl and high energy density batteries are developed for low power dissipation and long operating time at portable electronic equipment. In order to convert low supply voltage from battery, a DC to DC converter is essential. We developed compact buck-converters of low output voltage that are suitable for Li-ion battery input type equipment. 2.5V converters had a volume of 0.12 cm^3 at 2.5V for 120mA output. High efficiencies of up to 86% for converter using chip inductor and 83% for converter using thin-film inductor were achieved. 1V converter had a volume of 0.21 cm^3 and an efficiency of up to 76% at 1V for 100mA output.
