Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper discusses the characteristics of the convergence index filter (CI filter) which is used to detect lung nodules on chest X-ray image. CI filter is a filter which evaluates the degree of convergence of gradient vectors in the neighborhood of pixel of interest. The output of this filter does not depend on the contrast of the region of interest to its background. Three kinds of filters are investigated and their theorelical response characteristics for typical models are shown. Experiments to test their performance have been performed. Their results show the effectiveness of the proposed filters.
