Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) A support system using a private PHS network to give information and their positions to the handi-capped persons in JR Takasaki station has been studied. However, the positioning system measuring the strength of the received signals at the portable terminal with the person from the PHS base station omni-antennas on the platforms shows low accuracy. Sometimes it indicates the wrong platform number to the terminal because the signals from the base stations on the different platforms are much more strongly received by the terminal from the same platform where the terminal is. The propagation between different platforms is usually much smoother than on the same platform. Therefore, the thesis proposes a positioning system with directional antennas to suppress the interfering signals from the different platform base stations. The proposed scheme uses absorbent boards for radio waves so that the base stations have directionality to suppress the interfering signals. Then, it is possible to estimate the positions of the users precisely and transmit necessary data and voice for letting them find the right platform and guiding them to their destinations. Through the computer simulation based on the actual experiment data in JR Takasaki station, the proposed scheme is confirmed to improve positioning performance.
