Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) A liquid crystal display has characteristics that picture quality is largely change with viewing angle. Among the factors of the phenomena, maximum luminance and minimum luminance changes and gamma were taken up and examined how they affected picture quality. Even though contrast has large effect on picture quality, it was shown that quality of a picture having larger luminance was better than that having lower luminance and the same contrast. Gamma which gave the maximum picture quality decreased and gamma range where picture quality was higher than the acceptable limit decreased its width, when maximum luminance decrcased.
