Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In the Johansson type of side-view PLWs (Point-Light Walkers), pendulum-like motions, hierarchically organized into the pattern of a human biological motion, give a vivid impression of an invisible human being. Although the pendulum-motion principle is not held in back-view condition, the PLWs show clear images of human-gait, indicating 72% or more correct gender-identifications. Their age, however, was less accurately recognized. Motion coordination of the point-lights or rhythmical relation among them seems to be playing an important role in the perception of back-view PLWs.
