Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We have developed a prototype system using image processing methods to enable users to select an object in a video scene by pointing a finger at the screen. We carried out experiments in which subjects pointed at a target on the screen in order to specify the position of a cursor. The results show that the subjects point with reference to midpoint between their eyes. We also evaluated the difficulty of operation of the prototype system, and ascertained both its actual performance and the level required for practical use.
