Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In a dispersion shifted fiber(DSF)with zero-dispersion wavelength at 1.55μm band, four-wave mixing(FWM)light that is different from input light wavelengths is easily generated. When phase matching condition is satisfied, the process of FWM can be induced at low level of input power compared to other nonlinear phenomena, and this fact results in crosstalk among channels in wavelength division multiplexing(WDM)using the DSF. In this report, we discussed the polarization dependence of incident lights on FWM and measured simultaneously parameters of nonlinear refractive index n_2 and zero-dispersion wavelength λ_0 in DSF based on mixing process of FWM. It was found that n_2=2.70×10^<-20>[m^2/W]and λ_0=1553.0[nm]are obtained by using linear polarization states of light emitting from wavelength-tunable CW DFB-LD sources and a 20km length of DSF sample.
