Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The finite element method(FEM)is applid to analyzing transmission properties of photonic crystal fibers(PCFs). Using a vector FEM(VFEM), the modal birefringence, single-moded operation, and group-velocity dispersion of holey fibers(HFs)are investigated. The degeneracy in hexaganal HFs with six-fold rotational symmetry, the maximum hole diameter for single-moded operation, and the group-velocity dispersion agreed with experiment are shown.
