Vibration sensors using optical taper fibers

Abstract(in English) We described frequency characteristics of the thin optical taper-fiber vibration sensor. The fiber sensor has 1μm in diameter and 43~70 mm in length, and is protected with a stainless steel tube. The vibration frequency characteristics were measured by launching a light into the fiber sensor pasted on the vibration table under the condition of 100Hz~2000hz in frequency and 10G~25G in acceleration. Experimental results show the fiber sensor output is proportional to acceleration, the output increases in proportion to pulling strength, the output is larger with 1.55μm than with 1.3μm and S/N is obtained with larger than 30dB.
