Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In the meteorological observations, the size and the shape of precipitating water droplet are the most important. In this report, the water droplet is measured optically while its natural precipitation. The transmission through the water droplet is measured. The change of transmittance as a function of the dropping time is experimentally obtained. The resulted waveform is compared with an ideal glass sphere and with a metallic sphere, thus the size and the shape of the precipitating droplet are calculated. The bigger water droplet and dropping velocity, the larger defor mation. The scattering property is measured when the model of water droplet through optical sensor. This method can be applied to the experimental research of the various kinds of aerosol.
