Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The optical fiber Bragg grating(FBG)may be invaluable in the application to distortion sensing as a new strain gage with its high sensitivity, reliability and low noise characteristics. Some basic technologies such as holding method have been developed to use FBG distortion sensor for security of tunnels or buildings. This report describes about trial experiments held at local tunnel and we found a number of problems to be solved for practical applications. The experiments will be expanded to more difficult trial at Seikan Under See Tunnel based on the experiences.
