Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We describe an optical adaptive equalizer using a pair of nonlinearly chirped fiber Bragg gratings mounted on multilayer piezoelectric transducers (MLP). This equalizer can equalize second- and third- order dispersion of 80 km long dispersion-shifted fibers. The gratings were fabricated with phase masks that were multiply-overwritten with an electron beam. This technique reduced the group delay ripple to ± 1.90 ps. The operation region can be tuned up to 5.6 nm by applying 50 V to the MLP. These results indicate that this device is applicable to adaptive equalization.
