Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The four-wave mixing(FWM) degrades the transmission characteristics of wavelength-division-multiplexing(WDM) systems using a dispersion-shifted fiber(DSF). This phenomenon causes system degradation in multi-channel transmission even though it can be used for generation of new wavelength light that is different from incident wavelength lights. However, FWM can be applied as a measurement tool for fiber parameters including nonlinear refractive index. In this report, we discuss simultaneous measurement technique for parameters of zero-dispersion wavelength λ_0 and nonlinear refractive index n_2 in DSF based on FWM. It was found that λ_0 =1553.0 [nm] and n_2 =2.69×10^<-20> [m^2/W] are obtained by using the linear polarization states of wavelength tunable CW DFB-LD source and 20km length of DSF sample.
