Accurate Measurement of Raman Gain Coefficient

Abstract(in English) In the trend towards the higher bit-rate and exhaustive use of the low-loss fiber window, there is heightened interest in Raman fiber amplifiers. In the case of designing Raman amplifiers, it is vital to evaluate the Raman gain co-efficient as precisely as possible. This paper describes the accurate measurement of the Raman gain coefficient employing the broadband noise source. Taking into account the impact of the amplified spontaneous emission(ASE) generated in Raman amplifiers and the stimulated-Raman-scattering(SRS) tilt. The influence of the line width of the pumping laser is also examined.
