Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In optical fiber routing systems using WDM transmissions with several km long distance between terminals, both multiplexing/demultiplexing of optical signals and signal amplifications are required. In this paper, an add-drop multiplexer (ADM) with signal amplification ability using optical fiber grating couplers (FGCs), an erbium doped fiber (EDF), and pump laser diode is proposed. By theoretical analysis, it is clarified that proper FGCs for the proposed ADM can be designed. An ADM is constructed using fabricated FGCs and drop efficiency characteristics are measured. As a results of the experiment, It is shown that the proposed ADM can amplify WDM signals and increase drop efficiency without using WDM coupler for pumping light.
