Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Plastic Optical Fiber (POF) has some advantages over Glass optical fiber. These are ease of connecting because of big size core diameter and flexibility of material. Asahi Glass Co., LTD.introduces perfluorinated GI-POF (Brand name : Lucina^) to the market. Lucina^ has unique characteristics as availability of wide wavelength from 650nm to 1300nm low attenuation and high bandwidth. This paper introduce characteristic of bandwidth and coupling loss of Lucina^ using commercially available transceivers and proposes this new GI-POF to the LAN market.
