Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We measured baseband frequency response of step-index all-plastic optical fibers (POF) together with the mode power evolution along them. We also constructed a theoretical transmission model of the POF by determining the mode coupling coefficient and the mode attenuation constant from measured mode power evolution. Calculated transmission bandwidths based on the theoretical model almost agreed with the measured ones, and the model allowed us to describe the dependence of the bandwidth on the physical parameters of the POF such as numerical aperture, fiber radius and core radius, and the launching condition of the light signal.
