Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) A short review of recent studies on fiber optic distributed sensors utilizing the backscattering characteristics and an optical fiber sensor with a fiber Bragg grating is presented. A two-dimensional array sensor for sound field visualization and a micro-probe for mega-hertz ultrasonic field are described. A new approach to apply plastic optical fiber for sensing use is introduced, where the change in optical path length is measured by sing-around method.
