Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) All-optical regenerators will be of great interest to enhance scalability and flexibility in future optical networks. Namely, they can reset the network impairments of channel interaction noise, accumulation of amplified spontaneous emission, chromatic dispersion and non-linearity of optical fibers and so forth, with less complexity than electrical regenerators, even if they are operating at high bit rate. In this paper, we demonstrated the optical regeneration using electroabsorption modulators at 10 Gbit/s for the optical network application. By using two re-circulating loops, we have confirmed the extension of the signal reach. Since the architecture of the demonstrated regenerator is very simple and is expected to operate at higher bit rate, it will be applied to future high-speed all-optical networks.
