Abstract(in English) Four-wave mixing (FWM) suppression performance of dispersion distributed fibers (DDFs), which have a non-uniform chromatic dispersion along their length, has been investigated. We theoretically discussed two different kinds of longitudinal dispersion design of DDF to suppress FWM effectively. We also show the FWM suppression performance of the DDFs which were fabricated by using VAD technique. Moreover, we investigated experimentally the effect of the DDFs on the transmission characteristics of 4×10 Gb/s WDM transmission systems. These results show that the proposed DDFs can not only suppress FWM but also improve the input power for WDM systems.
