Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) A fiber Bragg grating formed on a Ge doped cladding fiber has been developed for multi/demultiplexing filters in dense WDM transmission systems.Employing apodization, the reflection spectrum is sufficiently well shaped, and radiation mode coupling loss is suppressed less than 0.2 dB as well by optimaization of Ge concentration in the cladding, and cut-off wavelength. Owing to MFD compatibility, splice loss with a standard single-mode fiber is lowered to be less than 0.1 dB.
