Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Spectral narrowing of a vertical cavity surface-emitting laser was demonstrated by coupling multimode fiber inscribed with a Bragg grating. The fiber was a graded-index multimode fiber with a core diameter of 50 μm.An 836.5-nm Bragg grating was formed in hydrogen-loaded multimode fiber by two-beam interference method. The reflectivity of the Bragg grating was 38%. The fiber was coupled with an 836-837-nm GaAlAs/GaAs surface-emitting laser. The spectral half-width of the laser reduced down to 50% of the initial value by coupling the fiber with a Bragg grating. The minimum spectral width was 0.13nm FWHM. Further spectral narrowing, polarization control, and wavelength tuning were also discussed.
