Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) It is important to detect the change or breaking of levees by the rainfall at an early stage from the viewpoint of the disaster prevention. We developed an optical fiber sensor cable buried in the levee for its strain measurement.Change or breaking of levees is measured as the change of the optical fiber strain in the sensor cable. This cable has a center stainless steel pipe including optical fiber for temperature correction and 4 optical fiber codes, which are not stranded. By measuring these fibers, we can measure the cable strain more accurately. We performed an experiment in the imitated levee by using two type sensors including this cable, and confirmed that the break in the levee slope could be detected reliably as strain change when it reaches the sensors.
