Abstract(in English) Optical Time Domain Reflectometer (OTDR) is used to detect the loss distribution and break points of the optical fiber cable. In this method, optical pulses are launched into a optical fiber. The back scattering light and the Fresnel-reflection light which return to the input of the measuring optical fiber are then measured to locate the faulty points. Recently, Passive Double Star Networks have been introduced into the Subscriber Loop with the deployment of telecommunication systems. However, OTDR cannot be used for fault location of Passive Double Star Networks, because the compounded backscatter trace is a composition of the superimposed backscatter traces from each of the branched optical fibers. At present, a number of methods have been proposed to deal with this problem^<(1), (2), (3)>. This paper presents an analytical method to separate the OTDR's waveform data from the compounded backscatter trace based on the differences of the attenuation coefficient of each optical fiber.
