Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) To increase the power output by an optical powering, we are working to improve the optical-to-electrical conversion efficiency of the photovoltaic cell used in such systems. We have measured the dependence of the photovoltaic conversion efficiency on the power of the input monochromatic light. We found that the highest efficiency level was achieved at in input power density of about 50 mW/mm^2. By cooling the photovoltaic cell, we should be able to achieve the same efficiency at in input power density of about 150 mW/mm^2 as 50 mW/mm^2 and increase the electrical output of an optical-power transmission system from the 230 mW produced by current systems.
