Abstract(in English) A wide-band, large-size optical buffer is a key to realize a large capacity photonic ATM switch. It is important to suppress delay variations in a large-size tapped fiber delay line buffer. Factors to cause delay variations are studied, and means to suppress those variations are proposed. A prototype buffer, which has the buffer size of 15 and operates at optical bandwidth of 25nm, was evaluated and showed the overall delay variation within +-5ps. These results shows the techniques are applicable to 320Gbit/s photonic ATM switch.
