Abstract(in English) | Optical fiber grating couplers, in which Bragg grating are written in the taper regions of the fused optical fiber couplers, are theoretically and experimentally investigated. Filtering characteristics of the couplers are analyzed using the coupling mode theory. It is shown that the optical fiber grating couplers can be applied to the add-drop devices for WDM transmission systems. It is also clarified the effect of apodization. The filtering characteristics and the temperature characteristics of the fabricated optical fiber grating coupler are measured. It is shown that the lightwave with specific wavelength can be demultiplexed and that the temperature characteristics are similar to those of usual fiber gratings. |
