Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Polarization control between signal and reference lights is very important for effective optical heterodyne detection as well as for characterization of polarization dependent optical devise. Conventionally, a half wave plate has been used to obtain the desired polarization direction. However, the polarization direction of the output light from a half wave plate depends on input polarization direction, hence it isn't useful for such a situation that the input polarization direction fluctuates. We propose a new device which overcomes this ploblem theoreticaly, and demonstrate the operation property for input lights with various kinds of polarization states.
