Abstract(in Japanese) | (See Japanese page) |
Abstract(in English) | A modal-field transforming fiber utilizing a GI fiber with an elliptic core has been proposed. The fiber can transform an elliptic modal field to an circular symmetric one, and vice versa. Numerical examples based on the beam-propagation method are given, showing that the fiber can transform modal fields with a high efficiency. The fiber is found very usefull in coupling between laser diodes and single-mode fibers. A numerical result shows that a coupling loss of 0.12 dB can be obtained, even in coupling from the laser diode with the modal-field aspect ratio of 3 to a single-mode fiber. |
