Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The present paper describes the current trend in the certification of household article's safety. Each country has practiced the safety certification based on its own system. In the past, that situation sometimes formed non-tariff barriers and caused trade frictions. Thus, WTO/TBT was established and countries have begun to modify their standards to meet with those of ISO/IEC. Then, lack of this kind of international standards brings about serious problems since it is still very difficult to harmonize a domestic standard with those of other countries especially regarding introduction of programmable electronic systems to household items. In order to cope with the problems, it is concluded that the certification should be based on the modern approach of safety-integrity in context of the full lifecycles of the systems.
