Abstract(in English) | This paper describes the current status of draft IEC 61511, functional safety-safety instrumented systems for the process industrial sectors. The overall framework of the standard, relationships between IEC 61508 and IEC 61511 and between safety instrumented functions and other functions, as well as the relationship between the system, hardware and software are shown. Moreover, such issues as mode of operation, fault-tolerance requirements, and the third sector for certifying safety-integrity levels of safety-instrumented systems and/or for assessing functional safety are discussed. |
