Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) A series of paper-and-pencil surveys and field observations was conducted to investigate differences in the tendency of unsafe acts between genders and age groups, cross-situational consistency of individual difference, and factors influencing the decision making for taking or avoiding risk. The results of the surveys demonstrated that the tendency to risk-taking behavior is higher in males than females, and in the younger than the older. The individuals who take more risk than the others in the same age-sex group in a particular situation were found to take more risk in other situations as well. The observational studies, however, showed another result on sex difference in the tendency to commit unsafe acts.
