A Conceptual Design of a Middleware for Distributed Real-time Computer Network Architecture

Abstract(in English) Traditional communications networks for power systems have been built based on proprietary technologies, and used as private lines. A number of new requirements to the networks, however, may appear by de-regulation of power market or advantage of dispersed power generators. The requirements are a) adaptability to changes in system configurations and/or processing, b) cost reduction using general technologies, e.g. IP, and c) accessibility by users that are not the owner of the networks. We are developing a new architecture referred to as DRNA (Distributed Real-time Computer Network Architecture) for the networks in order to fulfill the requirements. DRNA has a layered architecture. One of the layers called sophisticated communication function provides communication logics such as mobile-agents or streaming communications for the adaptability to the changes. Moreover, it contains mechanisms, e.g. aggregations or policing, that maintain the quality of communications.
