Quality Assessment of Media Synchronization of Preventive Control Schemes

Abstract(in English) This report assesses the quality of live media synchronization of preventive control schemes employed at. the destination. We deal with four preventive control techniques: change of buffering time with network delay estimation, preventive skipping, preventive pausing, and preventive shortening of output duration. We have carried out subjective and objective assessment of the media synchronization quality of eight schemes which include combinations of the four techniques. In order to clarify the relationships between the two kinds of quality measures, we select explanatory variables from among objective quality measures by principal component analysis or factor analysis. Then, we carry out multiple regression analysis in which the subjective quality measure is the criterion variable.
