The Effect of Channel Propagation Delay and Interference Data on Media Synchronization Quality of the AF Service in DiffServ

Abstract(in English) This report studies the effect of channel propagation delay on media synchronization quality, which is a kind of application level QoS. By experiment, we examine it for two pairs of audio-video streams flowing with TCP/UDP data in the AF service of DiffServ. The authors have been investigating how TCP and UDP flows affect media synchronization quality of the AF service in DiffServ. However, they did not deal with the effect of channel propagation delays. Furthermore, other previous studies have not revealed any relationship between the traffic property produced by different propagation delays and media synchronization quality. In this study, we prepared a small DiffServ network to assess media synchronization quality by experiment. In our experiment, we change the channel propagation delay time in a bottleneck channel. In addition, we discuss a case where we use the UDP interference flow instead of the TCP one.
