Waiting Time versus Utility to Download Images and its Application to Priority Control

Abstract(in English) In the contents delivery network, its utility depends on the waiting time. This paper deals with the priority control of the contents delivery network from the viewpoint of utility. First, the subjective evaluation experiment of image download is done to obtain the relation between the waiting time and the utility. From the results, the function of the utility versus the waiting time is estimated. Then, this function is applied to the optimization of priority control of the image delivery system. This system has two classes, and it is analyzed by using computer simulation. The ratio of high priority packets to low priority packets is changed as a parameter, and the total utility of all users is maximized. It is shown that the total utility of two class system can be higher than that of one class system.
