Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Progress in the WDM transmission technology and development of the optical cross-connect(OXC) make the WDM optical network feasible. Application of the WDM optical network is a promising approach to realize a large scale and high speed core network. High reliability is required for each path in the core WDM optical network, and therefore appropriate fault recovery methods should be selected. In this paper, we examine characteristics of various fault recovery methods in the survivable IP over WDM optical networks. Particularly, we propose a mathematical programming method to evaluate resource cost of the survivable IP over WDM optical networks with various fault recovery modes. Using this method, we evaluate the resource cost of several small size networks and clarify application area of the optical level fault recovery and the IP level fault recovery.
