Abstract(in English) We propose a new buffer management mechanism for achieving fair bandwidth allocation with small hardware amount in high-speed networks. The basic process for allocating bandwidth fairly uses selective packet dropping to compare the measured input rate of the flow with an estimated fair bandwidth share. Though our proposed algorithm is a hardware-efficient FIFO-based algorithm, it can achieve almost ideal fair bandwidth allocation. Simulation results for a simple one-link model show that the proposed algorithm achieves a better balance between fairness and link utilization.
