Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Demands for per-user delivery such as video-on-demand are getting larger and those kinds of service are becomingmore feasible with improvements of broadband infrastructures, which has been impractical one because of high costs, Many schemes are studied for efficient delivery, some of which utilize multicast. However, there are some drawbacks in using multicast. For example, requests for the same contents arriving during the same batching time window are accepted at server and batched onto a single multicast stream. In general, the longer window batches more requests, however, the mean response time of each user gets longer at the same time. In some schemes, video server needs individual state of each user even when managing multicast, which yields low scalability. Or some schemes repeatedly batch requests by using multiple channels for single content delivery. For those efficiency issues, we have proposed a periodic muticast scheduling using bulk transmission over broadband network. In this paper, we extend our proposal to the multiple server environment so as to enable shorter response by utilizing initial stream bandwidth, more acceptance on requests and dynamic transition of user information through server interaction. We evaluate response time, blocking probability by simulation to show effectiveness of our proposal.
