Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) On the progress of services using the Internet, there will be increasing demand for Video on Demand(VoD) on the Internet in the near future. However, it is important to suppress the degradation of communication quality caused by packet loss under congested traffic with shared bandwidth on the Internet. In this paper, the MPEG transmission over the Internet is forcused on, and a suitable control mechanism for an eligible QoS enhancement is established. Under the frame-based classification of packets, as for the End-to-End controls, the sender shuffles the order of packets to avoid burst dropping, omits selected packets within a certain class of frame prior to forwarding by the proposed scheme. On the other hand, as for the controls in the intermediate router, tranferred packets are scheduled according to Round Robin(RR) or Weighted Round Robin(WRR), and dropped by Random Early Detection(RED). We evaluate the presented transmission method from various viewpoints through simulation, and establish an eligible transmission system considering the characteristics of traffic status on data transmission.
