Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In this paper, we investigate a new channel estimation method in order to achieve the optimum antenna/frequency diversity effect by maximum ratio combining in a Multi carrier-Spread Spectrum system with a plurality of antenna elements at the receiver. When a receiver combines the received signals using the estimated channel characteristics in both antenna and frequency domain, we can expect a higher order diversity gain, but may suffer from cumulative error of channel estimate. Without good channel estimate for use in combining at the receiver, using larger signal space may result in deterioration of diversity effect. Although we know that the correlation among channel characteristics in antenna/frequency domains lowers the diversity order, the conventional channel estimate schemes using antenna-by-antenna and carrier-by-carrier unit signal disregards the correlation. We propose a new channel estimation scheme taking into account the correlation and based on the maximum a posteriori probability criterion. We show by computer simulations the performances of the diversity combining using the proposed estimate scheme in comparison with those based on the conventional scheme.
